Montpelier, Ohio, native Cory Calvin will bravely discuss his touching coming out journey along with other struggles he has endured throughout his life as he launches his new memoir I Almost Became Me at the Montpelier Ohio Fire Hall on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 10:30am. This event is one not to miss. You will hear inspirational commentary and uplifting messages, experience incredible symbolism, and potentially win a free book or Kindle Fire (must be present to win).
Doors will open at 10:00am and there will be a special photo booth “book giveaway” opportunity for guests. Cory will be giving away two free copies of his book to two individuals who bring in the most creative and memorable photobooth prop that shows how you are unique and brave. It can be a sign, outfit, clothing accessory, crazy wig, etc. A team of judges will vote for the two best props and then give away the books at the end of the program. In addition to the book giveaways, each guest that attends will be eligible to win a Kindle Fire electronic tablet.
At the end of the program, Cory will open up the conversation for those in attendance to be able to ask any questions they have about the book. Afterwards, paperback copies of I Almost Became Me will be available for purchase and Cory will take the time to sign each copy purchased at the event. Bring your camera for some fun photo opportunities.
At 10:30am, a program will begin. After a special introduction, Cory will walk through how writing the book has helped him overcome obstacles that he faced for a majority of his life. Before reading an excerpt from his memoir, Cory will host a special Mother’s Day dedication for his mother who passed away earlier this year from brain cancer.
“It’s surreal to see my name on the cover of a book and see the words that I have written on the pages,” Cory said. “It took me over ten months to write I Almost Became Me, and the writing process helped me overcome a lot of emotional anxiety and stress that I have carried with me for most of my life. It was like therapy for me. I’m thrilled to share my story to hopefully inspire others to live their best life now or as soon as possible.”
